H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé has been the President of the Republic of Togo since 2005.
Before assuming the presidency, he was elected to the National Assembly of Togo in 2002, he was also the Minister of Equipment, Mines, Posts, and Telecommunications, serving from 2003 to 2005.

During one of his many private meetings with the private sector on recovery and post reconstruction of Ebola. H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé raised the concern of the leadership of ECOWAS traveling abroad (France, South Africa, Europe, and USA) for medical redresses. He also raised the concerns of the high cost of these medical services for leaders of ECOWAS.

These leaders are Heads of States, Ministers of Government, Directors of State Enterprises, Traditional Ruler, Academians, Heads of Security Agencies, and Heads of Private Sector Organizations etc.

On the strength of the initiative of his H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, a group of private sector entrepreneurs headed by Hon. Peter Ahiekpor of Platinum Entities Group came up with the concept of ECOWAS Medical Village (EMV).

The proposed Eco Medical Village will be a new Private Public Partnership, state of the art medical village to be located in Ghana and areas of specialization to be located throughout the ECOWAS region. This facility will address concerns posed by H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Republic of Togo and Supervisor of ECOWAS process on the fight against Ebola.
